Launched: Zarafa Collaboration Platform 7.0 and Zarafa Archiver
Improved Performance and Integrated Archiving Options Lower TCO

June 29, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Zarafa, the leading provider in open source groupware and collaboration software, has continued to work on the feature richness and overall quality of its Zarafa Collaboration Platform (ZCP) for both administrators and end-users. Today's launches of ZCP 7.0 final[1] and Zarafa Archiver-1.0 deliver enterprise features which help to lower total cost of ownership.

The biggest change in ZCP 7.0 is the full support of UTF-8 (Unicode) enabling Zarafa to cross even more international borders like Asia and the Middle East.

In various ways, the 7.0 version of Zarafa's collaboration software enables enterprises to benefit from a lower total cost of ownership; Significant database changes have led to a higher IO performance and the support of more concurrent users on a single Zarafa server. This results in lower costs per mailbox as more users can be stored on one server. With the launch of Zarafa Archiver-1.0 , enterprises now can really cope with the ever increasing growth of email storage. This new add-on tool dramatically minimizes the mail store of heavy users by moving old messages to slower and thus cheaper storage. Older messages can be removed completely from the more expensive primary storage servers which increases performance. To view the archived email and to open it, a stub in the users mail box can be created. The Zarafa Archiver-1.0 solution can be used from ZCP 6.40.8 and is available for the Professional and Enterprise Editions.

Zarafa has implemented a new IMAP Gateway in ZCP 7.0 to offer better compatibility for users with generic IMAP clients like Mac Mail and Thunderbird. The new IMAP gateway includes a new configuration option to store more message information which allows for tremendous gains in performance.

At the 2011 Zarafa SummerCamp (30th of June and Friday the 1st of July 2011), Bart Lindeboom, Director ICT of the Dutch municipality of Ede, will share how Ede has benefited from the implementation of ZCP and its integration with the Zarafa Archiver. Not only many application vendors and open source distributions will be represented at SummerCamp, also industry leaders like Capgemini, Red Hat and IBM, governmental catalysts, well known industry analysts, internationally renowned Linux experts, Informatics Education Centers and the Zarafa Business Partner Network will attend the open source 'hot spot' of this Summer.
